It has been a journey to create an e-portfolio, everything from the start has been a tremendous educational experience. It has been very demanding and, but the learning that has resulted has been unmeasurable. I think the benefits of having a collection of reflections and workpieces will be far better than the struggles and hours invested. Since I started building this portfolio, my mind is continuously busy thinking about what I can add from my everyday learning, but I struggle to put it in words. I can see my fixed mindset showing up when I’m looking for perfection in each post instead of progress. Because when you’re looking for that perfect title, and the perfect writing, with the ideal images, what you do is never good enough and you end up with an empty screen. So, accepting that nothing is perfect and that everything can be improved, gives me a sense of mental peace. I admit that my work has many flaws, aspects that can be developed and I am actively working towards getting better.

To better capture my ideas and thinking (and because a broken hand…), I made my first video blog recently. I enjoyed the creation process so much, the result was definitely not perfect, but it was fun. I used the Green Screen by Do Ink app on IOS (click here for a quick tutorial on the Green Screen App by Do Ink), this app gives you the ability to add layered images onto your video. I had written questions that needed to be answered; it was like having an interview with myself. This way I was clear about what I needed to talk about. I recorded my ideas in chunks, so If I made a big mistake, I would not have to start everything from the beginning but only that little section. After recording the separate pieces on the Green Screen app, I saved the recordings in my camera roll. I put the videos together using the create movie section of iMovie in my iPad and did some editing. I know for the next time I’m going to look for better illumination and try to be more creative with my backgrounds, so, I’m already thinking about how to improve. You can watch my first video blog about EdCamps and access the resources HERE!

I also thought that if I can record short clips of my thoughts about specific topics or about what happens during my day right away (like a diary). I think that would help my blog by boosting my memory. I need those reminders!, it is common for me to sit in front of the computer and spend 15 minutes just thinking about the events of my day and I know if I have those video reminders it would be much easier to start my reflection process.

So, I have a blog, no what? My plans for my blog are to continue the creative progress, the experimentation, continue to learn and try new things and document my journey through videos, writing, and pictures. And, as it happens, I will strive to create pieces that will also help you!
